editorial moment: again, to my mind if on the first page you call
this a "Discography of Woman-Made Music,"
then my definition of that is different. In my opinion about 90% of
the listings should be removed. For example,
the Supremes, Eydie Gorme, Dolly Parton and pretty much anything on
a "major label"...these were just
"woman sung"....a tiny, tiny fraction were produced by women,
and were on women's labels. So the value
to researchers of this listing is probably marginal. Now, a handful
of the entries have beside them the
woman-symbol subjectively denoting those the compilers thought might
be of interest to feminists. It's a start.
